01 February 2019 - Selwyn Press - Newsletter
It has been another week where our children have both worked hard at their desks, and been out and about in the Borough and further afield in order to expand and develop the classroom-based learning. As always, all the children were perfectly behaved, and did our school proud. Highlights of the week include:
- Year 1 were very excited to see key London icons 'in real life' - from the vantage point of a Thames Clipper boat tour along the River Thames.
- Our head girl, head boy and a group of School Council Members took part in a Holocaust Memorial event in Newham - where they also met the Mayor (who said she is keen to come and visit her at school - where she will be most welcome!)
- Thank you to parents and carers who were able to come in to school this week for our Celebration Assemblies. Both children and staff really appreciate the support of Selwyn families, where possible, and it is always lovely to be able to welcome families to experience some of what we get up to during our busy school days.
- Congratulations once again to our 5Cs Stars of the Week, and Readers of the Week - you should be proud of your names in the newsletter.
Finally, the best place to keep up to date with all that is happening at school is via our social media pages - both Facebook and Twitter have lots of information and pictures, enabling busy parents to keep in touch with school life in easy to digest, bite-sized chunks.
We also try to ensure that parents and carers are informed as to the events and activities we have planned at school, which can be found on the school calendar. Nearer the time, communications about these events will be sent to parents, where necessary, via ParentMail (please download the free app from Google Play/the Apple App Store to ensure easy access via your smartphone).
Here's hoping that next week is not quite so chilly!
