12 July 2019 - Selwyn Life - Newsletter

Friday 12 July 2019

What a week of celebration: not only did we celebrate the achievements of our Year 6 children as they prepare to leave us for their new secondary schools, but we also celebrated Portway's Outstanding Ofsted judgement.  This week, Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, visited Portway to hear about how Portway and Selwyn worked together to deliver huge improvements at Portway, benefiting our local community, which now has two Outstanding schools to choose from.  Read more about the visit in the newsletter -

  • We were delighted to welcome parents to school this year to join in our celebratory Year 6 tea party.
  • Congratulations to our Spelling Bee team, who represented our school at the Newham Spelling Bee competition.
  • The children really enjoyed their visit to Newham City Farm, and learnt a lot.
  • We celebrated the achievement of the children who were part of the Brilliant Club this year - well done everyone, and congratulations on your efforts.
  • Class 4C learnt to weave this week; we are looking forward to seeing what they have made!
  • Congratulations once again on excellent attendance - 1N achieved 100% this week, and 3G achieved 99%.
  • Congratulations to all winners of 5Cs certificates - keep up the good work as we near the end of term.

Thank you to once again to every member of staff who has helped support this excellent outcome for Portway: we are delighted that this achievement has been recognised at this very high level.
