Selwyn is a happy and successful school located in Plaistow, East London. We are at the heart of this culturally rich community where we are able to offer purposeful and exciting learning opportunities for all. The way in which we deliver our broad and engaging curriculum, ensuring that every child reaches his/her potential, has been recognised by Ofsted in our recent (March 2019) inspection, at which we retained our 2014 Oustanding judgement.
Everyone within our learning community has high aspirations and we work hard to make learning fun and relevant to each individual. We all have high expectations of behaviour and this has created a wonderfully positive and calm environment where everyone is respected and treated fairly. This emphasis on a happy, calm and focused learning environment ensures that our children can progress and achieve their potential. Our broad and balanced curriculum, planned, taught and assessed as per our Intention/Implementation/Impact Action Plans, is designed to engender a love of learning that our children will take to the next stage of their education.
We are an open, outward looking school, always keen to hear from our children and our parents - both on an ad-hoc, informal basis, and in a more structured way, to ensure that all voices are heard. To this end, we conducted surveys with both these groups, as well as with staff, in May 2018. The output from this exercise is published in the document available to download on this page. We are building on this work through our partnership with Wellbeing Award for Schools, which is described in more detail on our Health and Wellbeing page.
Our school is part of Newham Community Learning, a family of six school in the west of the borough of Newham, which educates children between 2 and 16 years. growing trust in Newham. Current vacancies for staff positions are listed on our Careers page, but we are always delighted to hear from competent, committed teachers interested in joining our team.
