28 September - Selwyn Press - Newsletter

Friday 28 September 2018

This week, in addition to the learning that the children did in class, there was a lot of other activity going on at school!  Highlights include:

  • Books for the winners of our Roald Dahl character dressing up competition winners; thank you to all parents who supported the children in providing some of the best costumes we have ever seen at Selwyn!
  • Our disco afternoons/evenings, which were very well attended, and enjoyed by all the children.
  • 2B managed to achieve 99% attendance last week, and 6P 100% - well done to every child in 6P who was at school every daylast week.
  • The winners of our 5C certificates, who demonstrated our 5Cs: care, commitment, courtesy, co-operation and consideration - which are the key behaviours we focus on in our school community.

In other news, please remember to check the school calendar for details of the Meet the Teacher evenings that have been scheduled for next week.  We look forward to welcoming parents to school for these important discussions.

Finally, and very importantly: at Selwyn, we are constantly working to ensure that our communications with parents are effective and easy to manage.  We are very pleased to announce that we will be launching a new email based system, ParentMail, on Monday 1st October.  Parents will all receive a letter re how to register for this system, which we will use going forward to communicate all school information.  Note that PAPER COPY LETTERS WILL NO LONGER BE SENT HOME, although copies will always be available on request from the school office.  We look forward to working with parents to improve home school communication via ParentMail.
